Several sites are already publishing specific Yu-Gi-Oh! dates and a venue. Those figures did not come from Konami, and we show where they did come from below.
Pokémon Worlds 2027: Confirmed Dates and Venue
The announcement came on 30 August 2026, at the closing ceremony of the 2026 Pokémon World Championships in San Francisco. Pokémon Company president and CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara named the host city on stage, and the official recap spells out the rest: the 2027 Pokémon World Championships "will make its return to Asia, visiting beautiful Singapore for the very first time. Trainers will compete and fans will celebrate at Singapore EXPO over the weekend of August 13–15, 2027."
The Straits Times adds one detail the recap leaves out. The final day of the grand finals moves across town to the Singapore Indoor Stadium, a separate venue from the Expo halls. The Expo dates are firm; the Indoor Stadium finale is well reported but has not yet appeared in a Pokémon Company release.
Three games are on the schedule: the Pokémon Trading Card Game, Pokémon Video Game Championships (VGC) and Pokémon GO. Pokémon UNITE is not one of them. Play! Pokémon confirmed that UNITE leaves the Championship Series in 2027 for a standalone event in Japan.
The Yu-Gi-Oh! announcement landed the same weekend and said far less. On 30 August 2026, Yu-Gi-Oh! Asia posted on Facebook: "Singapore will host the Yu-Gi-Oh! WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2027! The world's best Duelists. The highest stage. The next legends. See you in Singapore!" Konami Digital Entertainment followed with a statement on 31 August. A host country, and nothing else.
Konami's statement did give a sense of scale. The 2026 edition's main tournament ran 28–30 August in Ariake, Tokyo, with 90 players across four categories: Official Card Game, Duel Links (Speed Duel), Duel Links (Rush Duel) and Master Duel. Yu-Gi-Oh! Worlds is an invitation-only tournament of a few dozen players, not a 50,000-person convention floor.
Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2027: What Konami Has Actually Confirmed
If you have seen "21–22 August 2027 at Marina Bay Sands" quoted somewhere, it did not come from Konami. Here is where it did come from.
The Straits Times, reporting on 1 September 2026, is unambiguous: "Details such as the dates, venue, qualification process and ticketing or public access arrangements for the championship are yet to be revealed." MustShareNews and Geek Culture report the same.
The announcement came with a 49-second video of Singapore landmarks: Marina Bay Sands, the Supertree Grove at Gardens by the Bay, the Merlion. It is a tourism-advert montage, not a venue reveal. Somewhere down the aggregation chain, "Marina Bay Sands appears in the trailer" became "Marina Bay Sands is the venue", and a date was invented to go with it.
You do not need to know anything about Yu-Gi-Oh! to see the problem. The same site also has the Pokémon World Championships running 27–30 August at Marina Bay Sands, when The Pokémon Company announced Singapore EXPO on 13–15 August. A source that gets the confirmed event wrong is not a source for the unconfirmed one.
As for where it might actually land, Singapore has hosted before: the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship Qualifier Asia (English Edition) ran at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre on 23 May 2026. A 90-player invitational needs a fraction of Singapore EXPO's footprint, so something Suntec-sized is a likelier bet than a casino resort. That is a guess, not a report. Either way, do not book flights around a Yu-Gi-Oh! date yet.
How to Qualify for Pokémon Worlds 2027
If you want to play rather than spectate, the route changed this season. Play! Pokémon's 2027 season notes:
"In 2027, a set number of competitors from each rating zone, age division, and game will earn an invitation to the World Championships based on their Championship Point leaderboard standings."
That covers Pokémon TCG, VGC and GO. Invitations now go by leaderboard standing inside your rating zone, rather than everyone chasing one global Championship Point threshold.
There is a catch if you are reading this from Singapore. Play! Pokémon excludes the Asia-Pacific rating zone from Championship Point qualification altogether, so Singaporean players route through the separate Pokémon Asia Championship Series. Australia and New Zealand sit in the Oceania zone and do use Championship Points. The two paths share nothing.
Other 2027 changes:
- Championship Point awards were rebalanced to give more points to lower-finishing competitors at Regionals and Internationals, which helps anyone who attends a lot of events without deep runs.
- Travel Award tiebreaks now use finishing position at previous Regional and International Championships rather than accumulated Play! Points, starting at the 2027 Europe International Championships.
- Age divisions for 2027: Juniors born 2015 or later, Seniors born 2011–2014 inclusive, Masters born 2010 or earlier. Pokémon GO has no age divisions.
- The three Internationals feeding the season: São Paulo (Nov 2026), London (Feb 2027) and Chicago (June 2027), a new North America venue.
For Yu-Gi-Oh!, Konami has not published the 2027 qualification structure at all.

Pokémon Worlds 2027 Tickets: What We Know So Far
Neither organiser has announced ticketing. Spectator access to recent Pokémon Worlds has run by lottery rather than first-come sale, and the 2026 event in San Francisco drew a reported 50,000-plus attendees. A first-time host city with two stadium-scale venues is not going to have more supply than that.
Watch the official channels and register the moment a lottery opens. A general sale may never happen.
What Worlds 2027 Means for Collectors
Two World Championships in one city in one year is unusual, and it will do the usual things to a local market.
Championship-exclusive promos, playmats and sealed product are printed for the attendance and never restocked. Event-exclusive print runs like these have generally held a premium over comparable non-exclusive product, and a first-time host region starts with no local supply left over from previous years. That is a pattern to watch, not a promise.
Singles and sealed inventory in host cities tend to tighten in the weeks before an event, and anything meta-relevant moves sharply. If you are travelling to buy rather than to play, the window before the announcement wave beats the week of the event.
Large international TCG events also attract fake singles and resealed product, and a tourist buying in an unfamiliar market is an easy mark. Card Shows and Trade Events in Singapore Around Worlds 2027
Singapore already runs a dense schedule of card shows, collectibles fairs and trade meetups, which is where singles actually change hands.
If the Yu-Gi-Oh! championship lands in the same month, there will be a stretch of days in August 2027 with two international TCG crowds in one small city. Local organisers will schedule around it.

What to Do Now
- Nothing irreversible. Neither ticketing nor Yu-Gi-Oh! dates exist yet, so don't book non-refundable travel.
- If you want to qualify, check which rating zone you are in first, because it changes everything. Australian and New Zealand players should start accumulating Championship Points now, since the 2027 season is already live. Singaporean and South-East Asian players need the Pokémon Asia Championship Series instead, where the qualifying Master Ball League is still to be announced.
- If you are going to buy, know what your collection is worth before you travel, so you can recognise a good price on the floor.
