Introducing Bank TCG: The Tool We Wish We Had Years Ago
We're incredibly excited to finally share what we've been building for the past year: Bank TCG, a complete platform for managing your trading card collection.
If you've ever stood at a card show staring at a vintage card wondering if the price is fair, or spent hours manually updating a spreadsheet with your collection values, or hesitated before sending a $150 grading submission because you weren't sure it'd grade high enough - this is for you.
Why We Built This
Here's the honest truth: we built Bank TCG because we got frustrated with the tools that existed.
As collectors ourselves, we were constantly juggling between five different apps and websites just to answer basic questions:
- Is this card real?
- What's it actually worth right now?
- Should I get this graded, or will I lose money?
- What's my whole collection worth?
- Is this eBay listing a good deal or am I about to overpay?
Every tool did ONE thing well, but none of them talked to each other. We'd be at a card show with no WiFi, unable to check prices. Or we'd find a card online and have to open ten tabs to verify the market value. Or we'd spend Sunday evenings updating spreadsheets instead of enjoying our collections.
So we built the tool we actually wanted to use.
What Bank TCG Actually Does
Bank TCG is three products that work together (or separately, if you prefer):
1. Mobile App - Your Collection in Your Pocket
The iOS app is where everything starts. Open it, point your camera at any card, and get instant information:
Card Identification - 99.5% accurate across Pokemon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece, and Disney Lorcana. The AI recognizes cards even in less-than-perfect lighting or angles. We've tested it on everything from pristine raw cards to cards still in toploaders.
Grade Estimation - This is the feature we're most proud of. Point your camera at a card and our AI analyzes the centering, corners, edges, and surface. It then predicts what grade it would likely receive from PSA, BGS, or CGC with 94% accuracy.
Why does this matter? Because grading costs $150+ per card. If you're not sure whether your card is a PSA 9 or PSA 10, that's potentially a $500+ difference in value. Now you can make informed decisions before submitting.
Real-Time Market Prices - See what cards are selling for right now, not what they sold for six months ago. Prices update continuously so you always have current market data.
Works Offline - Here's a big one: once you download the database for your game (Pokemon, Magic, etc.), the app works completely offline. No WiFi at the card show? No problem. Spotty connection at the local shop? Doesn't matter. Everything runs locally on your phone.
2. Chrome Extension - Price Intelligence on eBay
This might be our favorite feature for everyday collecting. Install the free Chrome extension and every time you look at a card on eBay, you automatically see:
- Current market value
- Whether it's a good deal, fairly priced, or overpriced
- One-click option to add it to your portfolio
- Quick grade estimation if you want it

3. Web Platform - Deep Market Analysis
The website (banktcg.com) has detailed pages for over 26,000 cards with:
- Historical pricing charts
- Market trends
- Population reports
- Set information
- Investment analysis
Think of it as your research hub. The mobile app is for quick checks and scanning. The extension is for shopping. The website is for deep dives when you're researching major purchases or sales.
How to Get Started (5 Minutes)
Step 1: Download the App
Open the app and sign in (we use anonymous auth, so it's literally one tap). The app walks you through downloading your first card database.
Pro tip: Start with just one game's database. Pokemon is about 200MB. You can add more games later.
Step 2: Scan Your First Card
Grab any card from your collection. Tap the big scan button. Point your camera at the card.
Within 2-3 seconds you'll see:
- Card name and set
- Current market value
- Estimated grade if it were submitted raw
- Option to add it to your portfolio
Step 3: Install the Chrome Extension (Optional but Recommended)
Takes 30 seconds. Then go browse eBay like you normally would. You'll immediately see the difference.
Step 4: Build Your Portfolio
As you scan cards, tap "Add to Portfolio." The app tracks:
- Total collection value
- Value by set, rarity, or custom categories
- Price changes over time
- Cards worth grading
Your portfolio syncs across the app, extension, and website automatically.
Real Scenarios Where Bank TCG Helps
Let's get specific about when you'd actually use this:
Scenario 1: At a Card Show
You see a vintage Charizard. The seller wants $800. Is that fair?
- Open Bank TCG (works offline)
- Scan the card or search for it
- See it's trading for $720-750 for this condition
- Negotiate accordingly
Scenario 2: Browsing eBay at 11pm
You find a card that looks like a deal. But is it really?
- Chrome extension automatically shows you it's 15% below market

Scenario 4: Insurance Documentation
You need to document your collection for insurance (or just peace of mind).

The Technical Stuff (For the Curious)
We use a combination of AI models for card recognition:
- Google Vision API for primary identification
- TensorFlow Lite for on-device processing (why it works offline)
- Custom-trained models for grade estimation
- Real-time price feeds from multiple sources
The app is built with React Native and Expo. The databases use SQLite so they're fast and work offline. Everything syncs through Firebase when you have internet.
All your data is yours. We don't sell it, we don't share it, and you can export or delete it anytime.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does it work for [my game]?
Currently: Pokemon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece, and Disney Lorcana. Sports cards are coming soon. Other TCGs depend on demand - let us know what you collect.
How accurate is the grade estimation really?
94% accuracy based on our testing across 10,000+ cards. It's particularly good at identifying centering issues and obvious corner wear. It won't replace professional grading, but it's excellent for pre-screening before you submit.
What if I don't have internet at a card show?
Download the database before you go (takes 2-5 minutes on WiFi). Then everything works offline. Prices won't update until you reconnect, but you'll still have recent data.
Does the Chrome extension work on mobile?
Not currently - Chrome extensions only work on desktop browsers. But the mobile app does everything the extension does and more.
Can I track graded cards too?
Yes! Add graded cards manually with their grade, and the app tracks their market value based on the grade.
Does it work with sealed products?
Not yet, but this is on the roadmap. For now, it's singles only.
What about non-English cards?
The scanner works with most languages, but pricing is most accurate for English cards. We're working on better international pricing data.
