Tips
Pop rate varies by set. Check PSA's population report for realistic PSA 10 rates on your specific card.
Factor in all costs. Supplies (sleeves, top loaders, packaging), PayPal/payment fees, and your time all eat into profit.
Exchange rates are approximate. For precise multi-currency figures, check a live rate source before submitting.
PSA fees are USD-based. Grading tier prices shown are in USD. International submitters pay in USD to PSA.

- Enter your card cost — the price you paid (or plan to pay) per raw card.
- Select your PSA grading tier — choose from Economy ($20), Value, Regular, Express, Super Express, or Walk-Through. The fee auto-fills; select Custom to enter your own.
- Set the number of cards and any shipping and insurance costs for the whole submission.
- Enter your expected PSA 10 pop rate — check PSA's population report or recent Discord/Reddit data for your set. Toggle PSA 8 if you expect a meaningful portion to fall below PSA 9.
- Add your sell prices — use recent eBay completed sales for each grade. Select your selling platform to automatically deduct fees (eBay is 13.25%).
- Set a target profit (or leave at 0 for break-even). The calculator shows the minimum PSA 10 rate you need to hit that goal.
Understanding Your Results
Expected Profit
Projected revenue (based on your PSA 10 pop rate) minus all costs. This is the statistical expectation — actual results will vary based on how many cards actually grade PSA 10.
ROI %
Return on investment: expected profit divided by total costs. A 30%+ ROI is generally considered healthy for grading submissions.
Break-even PSA 10 Rate
The minimum percentage of your cards that must grade PSA 10 for the submission to cover all costs. If your real pop rate is below this, expect a net loss.
Max PSA 9s Allowed
The maximum number of PSA 9 results you can absorb while still hitting your target profit. More PSA 9s than this and the submission falls short.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate PSA grading profit?
Subtract your total costs (card purchase + grading fees + shipping) from your expected revenue (expected PSA 10 count × PSA 10 price + PSA 9 count × PSA 9 price, after platform fees). The calculator above does this automatically based on your pop rate estimate.
Is PSA grading profitable for Pokémon cards?
It depends on the card. Grading is most profitable when the PSA 10 price is at least 3–4× the raw card price, and when PSA 10 pop rates are achievable for the set. Modern sets often have higher pop rates (40–60%) but lower price spreads. Vintage cards have lower pop rates but much larger grade premiums.
What PSA 10 rate do I need to break even?
This depends on your card cost, grading fee, and price difference between PSA 10 and PSA 9 sold copies. The calculator solves this exactly — look for the 'Break-even PSA 10 rate' in your results.
How much do PSA grading fees cost in 2025?
PSA fees range from $20/card (Value tier, ≤$499 declared value, ~65 day turnaround) to $600/card for same-day Walk-Through service. The most popular tier is Economy at $25/card (~45 days). All fees are in USD. Add round-trip shipping and insurance on top.
Should I use Economy or Express PSA grading?
Economy ($25) makes sense for bulk submissions of moderate-value cards where the price spread justifies a slower turnaround. Express ($150) is only worth it for high-value cards (raw $500+) where market timing matters or where the PSA 10 premium is very large. Use the calculator to compare both scenarios side by side.
